AppGuard ("we", "us", or "our") is dedicated to providing robust mobile security, app management, and offline APK archiving while prioritizing user privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how AppGuard handles permissions, device data, and privacy safety.
🔒 100% Offline & Private: AppGuard does NOT collect, store, or transmit your personal files, installed application lists, or APK backups to any external servers or cloud databases. All core functionality operates strictly locally on your device.
1. Information Handled On-Device
AppGuard processes device information strictly locally to power your app management and security audit features:
- Installed Application Package Data: We scan installed applications locally to display app details, storage usage, backup status, and calculate your overall Device Health Score.
- Stealth & Threat App Auditing: We inspect local app metadata to detect hidden apps (apps without launcher icons) that hold high-risk or sensitive permissions (Camera, Microphone, SMS, Location) to protect you from stealth malware.
- Local Storage APK Scanning: We scan local device folders (Downloads, Bluetooth, WhatsApp) to index standalone and split APK packages for extraction, installation, and management.
- App Usage Statistics: With your explicit consent, we check last-used timestamps to help you identify unused applications and free up storage space.
2. Android System Permissions & Rationale
AppGuard requests specific Android permissions strictly to deliver core app functionality:
- QUERY_ALL_PACKAGES: Required to query installed apps for backup extraction, permission risk auditing, and stealth threat detection.
- MANAGE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE / Storage Access: Required to scan, store, organize, and export APK files to your device's local vault directory.
- PACKAGE_USAGE_STATS: Required to retrieve app usage history to calculate unused storage and app hibernation recommendations.
- REQUEST_DELETE_PACKAGES / REQUEST_INSTALL_PACKAGES: Required to allow users to trigger 1-tap uninstallation of threat apps or install backed-up APK packages via system installers.
3. Third-Party Services & SDKs
AppGuard integrates trusted third-party SDKs for advertising and crash diagnostics:
- Google AdMob: Serves advertisements to support free development. AdMob may collect anonymized device identifiers and advertising IDs. Review Google Privacy Policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy
- Firebase Analytics & Crashlytics: Collects anonymized crash logs and performance metrics to help us fix bugs and improve app stability. Review Firebase Data Privacy: https://firebase.google.com/support/privacy
4. Data Retention & Security
Your APK backups, vault archives, and app preferences remain stored locally on your device's internal storage. We do not maintain any cloud databases or external user accounts. Uninstalling AppGuard or clearing app data completely removes local settings.
5. Children's Privacy
AppGuard is not directed toward children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
6. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy periodically. Any updates will be published directly on this page with an updated revision date.
